This movie was about aliens coming into earth and trying to communicate. It somehow left me a very positive feeling, the way how Louise, a linguistic teacher tried to learn their language and make them learn hers was a very special approach. I liked the fact how she simplified one sentence to different letters and solutions. I felt like it had a connection with the design process itself. She took the problem, that in the movie was about finding the purpose of the aliens and if they wanted to harm the earth. After that she separate the problems in smaller ones, in this case the sentence into what should it be hard to teach. She continues with giving solutions about how to approach to them and learning their language by visualizing their words into drawings and sentence.
This movie gave a different approach to design thinking, because it wasn't about design, it was more about problem defining and solving. The fact that she then could visualize their words and have an impact to them and kept a record of every drawing that the aliens were giving to her and trying to merge them together to form the sentence was an amazing part of the movie. I liked the way how she kept an open mind and different from other people that were terrified from the unknown she was welcoming them and leaving the judgment away.
