One Strange Rock - Mother nature & Earth

Alien. As a definition it means something that it is unfamiliar or disturbing. But what do we find in this episode is trying to find what alien means to us while exploring the earth and nature. When this episode finished the teacher asked us, if we found anything related to what a designer is or to what is the design process. We could not find any relation but actually somehow it had. If you design or create you should know how the surrounding is created. We noticed that this series was more about the structural component of the nature itself or how the nature sometimes its what we need to rely on. We talked about what we find different and why are we scared to things when we never saw them or had any interact with them. Why does difference scares us ?

Maybe it is because we do not like to go out of our comfort zones, or maybe because we are scared of the unknowns and change. We talked about if we would live alone for 1 week in the Amazons forest, or Sahara dessert or other unknown and dangerous places. For me i sad Amazons because watching the series i saw that actually there were nothing to be scared because everything we do not see or know its an alien to us, it is unknown, but what it interested me how people chose Sahara dessert because at least they could see the danger coming. We see danger in so many ways and most importantly we see danger in every thing that is different and maybe that is our mistake. We should be more open minded and see the world with all its components and the way it is created because aliens are not only the outer space creatures, but even the things that you still see different because of your human natures instinct to feel uncomfortable with what you call familiar and beauty.
