Today's movie had something special in the way of design thinking. We saw a documentary about Chef Grant and i think it was fascinating. I liked the way of how he designed with food and interacted with user experience and user interference. He started to create food to amaze and give people the A-ha moment. The way of he surprised them made people go more to his restaurant. He wanted them to expect the unexpected, like playing a mind game to give the users the full experience. Another amazing feature is the way of how he started playing with their memories by putting a pillow with food aroma so when people can feel that aroma it will remind of the restaurant special food. After all of those ideas he started experiencing time, creating something of the past in every course and that is the moment that i got the A-ha moment. The way of how he wanted to design not only for the users but even for themselves because even if users never came to that restaurant and never knew the past course , the cooks knew.
When he couldn't taste due to the 4th stage of tongue cancer, it was the moment where his design ability came into life. He started drawing the ingredients and creating without feeling the taste but just imaging how the taste would be. I was amazed. This is what a true designer should be . It should be attached to his creation and know by heart what he wants to show and nothing can defeat that.
