The creative brain

Today, we saw "The creative brain" where the neuroscientist David Eagleman explores the brain design thinking and how it performs to creativity. The movie included not only neuroscience but even technology, cooking, music, fashion, architecture and art. But what is creativity about ? In the movie the creativity is explained as " ...... not about making something out of nothing. Instead it’s about refashioning what already exists.” I liked this sentence. We don't have to create something out of nothing, because as in the movie explained there is no true original creativity ,meanwhile we can create it from something we seen or learned about. For example: Michele a nanotechnologist took the idea from a childhood memory and the desperation she had for her career made her create a technology to shrink materials and data. The desperation that leads to a creation is what catches my eye. We always know that the pressure make us work more and get more creative but for others they use other way. Like the Danish architect who materialised every thought he had and pined them in the big table and then started thinking how to connect all of this together.

Another aspect is the way how some of the people that were interviewed got the creativity design after starting to try other new hobbies and going out of their comfort zone. As for the songwriter and singer the fact she started cooking created a whole new creative life, or the people in prison who started writing helped them pass the bad habits and move on with their life in prison. What I think its interesting how the fashion designer starts creating something different that scares people, and talks about herself like 2 different people to allow herself to make mistakes and create. Because if you don't fail you don't create. We should push ourselves and go out of the boundaries and think outside of the box noticing the world around you, full of opportunities to design and imagine. The ability to create is "to imagine the world that isn't our world yet." We should explore the world and different abilities that we have so we can start knowing ourselves and what are we capable to do.
